New TAIM-TFG bulk handling facility in Ardakan (Iran)
TAIM-TFG has supplied the complete material handling system for a new NISCO (National Iranian Steel Co) iron ore pelletising plant in Ardakan (Iran). The plant, still in the testing phase, will enter into commercial operation next August.
TAIM-TFG S.A., a leading Spanish company in bulk material handling, lifting equipment, renewable energy and environmental installations, has been placed in charge of the material handling system of a new iron pelletising plant in Ardakan (Iran) which will have a production capacity of 3.4 million tons a year. The project, started in 2005, is being undertaken for CHADOR MALU MINING AND INDUSTRIAL Co., (CMMIC) belonging to the National Iranian Steel Co, NISCO, for whom TAIM-TFG has already worked on two occasions in the past. At present, the plant is in the cold testing phase, in June the load tests will start and the facility is expected to enter into service next August.
In this project, TAIM-TFG has both supplied and supervised the assembly of the entire plant material handling and transport system. This system includes: the iron ore concentrate reception via railcar dumpers with a capacity of 20/25 cars/hour; a mineral stockyard with stacking and reclaiming machinery, consisting of a stacker for iron ore concentrate with a capacity of 1,700 t/h and 140 kW installed power and a bucket-wheel reclaimer with a capacity of 1,000 t/h and 235 kW installed power.
The handling system also consists of a finished product (pellets) stockyard, including a stacker for pellets with capacity of 700 t/h. Reclaiming takes place below the stockpiles, via 2 underground conveyor belts running parallel through underground tunnels. Finally, the facility is completed with the appropriate transport systems within the pelletising area, with a capacity of 1,700 t/h and a total conveyor belt length of 4,200 m, as well as a train loading station with a capacity of 20-25 cars/hour.
The entire project has been carried out by an international consortium formed by three companies: the Spanish company TAIM-TFG, as the supplier of the material handling system for the plant, the Japanese company KOBE STEEL, supplier of the technology and main equipment for the pelletising process and ABB (Switzerland), supplier of the electrical and automation system.
